Case Studies
Below are a few examples of the financial strategies HBF Capital has implemented to help its clients reach their financial goals. For further details on how we can help your business grow, please Contact Us.
Foreign Expansion
A company was opening a foreign branch. I saw an opportunity in the market and recommended a change to the initial strategy.
The branch was projected to breakeven in two years, but implementing my suggestion resulted in profitability in 6 months and being profitable every month beyond that
IP Licensing Company
Following multiple acquisitions, HBF was engaged to consolidate multiple financial statements and developed projections.
These were used to convince the owner of the IP that the customer was a viable, successful company and to secure financing for the acquisition.
Music Label
Engaged to build a financial model to determine how much capital was needed to grow the business and to raise equity capital. In the process, the founder thought he had given too much of his company away on an earlier fund raise.
He asked me to review that transaction and I found the process used for the initial valuation was solid, but some of the assumptions made were arguably not correct.
The founder asked that I lead a call with the investor and I explained my thought process, the assumptions I thought should be used and what value that produced. As a result, the investor voluntarily reduced his ownership.
This may result in millions more in the founder’s pocket when he sells the company.
Raise Capital
Developed a financial model to reflect a new business opportunity and raise capital. Presented to multiple investors and got a commitment for $5M.
Due Diligence
A family office asked me to perform due diligence on new and existing investments. On one of the existing investments I found some irregularities in the return data provided.
After several calls with the portfolio managers and executives, the fund independently returned 100% of the investment, not wanting the market to review the data I discovered.
This saved the family office from a potentially large loss.
Corporate Asset Sale
Developed a financial model and helped prepare all requested due diligence documents for a large asset sale.
This included multiple meetings with the acquirer and analyzing terms.
Cash Flow Problem
A business services company had strong sales and was growing. Having sufficient cash flow was a constant problem.
I analyzed the financial data and saw the problem wasn’t a slow pay from the customer (days receivable were good) but that the client was slow in sending the invoices. Once that was fixed, the cash flow problems went away.
